Introduction

In order to receive your commissions correctly, each sale must be identified with your Affiliate account. We have added several features that will help make the system as fair as possible.

Customers can purchase the Global Warming: An Inconvenient Lie DVD set immediately if they desire, but we are offering a special FREE streaming replay of certain sections during which time we will heavily promote the purchase of DVDs. The signup page for the FREE replay is

Your initial marketing effort should direct people to this page (using your Affiliate link, of course) so that the prospect is correctly ‘attached’ to your account. This will guarantee that you will receive your commission IF the prospect later purchases the DVD set.  The only people who will receive the streaming video links are the ones who specifically ‘opt-in’ on this page, so it is important to encourage them to sign up.

After the free streaming video promotion is completed, we will continue to send offers to prospects who did not purchase DVDs. You will get credit for any prospect that was attached to your Affiliate ID.  At that time, you can also directly promote DVD sales by directing people to the above link or the product page itself, which is

How to get credit for product sales

One way or another, any of your prospects must become attached to your Affiliate account. There are several ways this can happen.

1. Direct links using your Affiliate ID

In the Affiliate Area, click on the Affiliate URLs tab. Your numeric Affiliate ID will be shown. To generate a good URL, copy one of the URLs above into the Page URL field and then click Generate URL. Here is a generated URL for the product itself, where the number ‘2’ would be replaced by your number:

Use your Generated URL on graphic banners, email links, etc.

2. Direct links using your Affiliate Slug

On the Affiliate URLs tab, you will also see your “slug”, which can be changed on the Settings tab. Your slug can be anything you like, but it must a single word with no spaces or punctuation. Use the slug in the same way that you would use your number. Thus, if your slug was ‘smith‘, the above link would look like:

3. Any link from your website

If you have a website, you can associate it with your Affiliate account by entering your site on the Direct Links tab in the Affiliate Area. If anyone hops from your website directly to RealityZone.com, our system can trap that and associate the prospect with your Affiliate account. In this case, it doesn’t matter what page you direct them to or whether or not you specify your slug or Affiliate ID – it just looks at your website.

A good example where this might apply is the following: let’s say you link some text in a post on your site to G. Edward Griffin’s book, Creature From Jekyll Island, but you neglect to put your Affiliate ID or slug in the link. Well, it won’t matter because your website itself is used to make the association. Although that link has nothing to do with the DVDs, if that prospect later purchases the DVD, you will still get credit.

4. Customer uses your special Coupon Code in the shopping cart

This is a great fail-safe feature to get commissions on your referrals. Every Affiliate receives a special Coupon Code based on his or her first or last name. When applied in the shopping cart, your Coupon Code will grant a 10% discount and it will show immediately. You might guess that your Affiliate ID will be attached to the order and you will receive the commission.

There are times when it is not convenient (or smart) to ask a prospect to go to your website to click on some link containing your Affiliate Id, to get back to Reality Zone. For instance, you are on a radio interview and you tell listeners to go to Reality Zone and get a 10% discount on the DVD by applying your Coupon Code in the shopping cart. There are lots of opportunities to verbally broadcast  your Coupon Code, and people are encouraged to use it in order to get a further discount.

Referral Commissions

The Affiliate commission for Global Warming: An Inconvenient Lie is 40% of the purchase price, which is currently $57. Thus, you will receive $22.80 for each DVD sale that you refer. If the customer uses your Coupon Code (10% off), the sale price becomes $51.30 and you receive $20.52.

RealityZone.com has lots of other compelling books, DVDs and products to purchase, and it is certain that some people will come to the checkout page with other items in their shopping cart. The good news is that you will receive a 10% commission on these extra products as well.

In addition, if a customer makes additional purchases later on, you will continue to receive commissions. This makes it easy and natural for you to continue to promote both the Global Warming DVDs as well as other items.

How ongoing promotion can help to build sales

A situation will arise where Affiliate audiences overlap to some extent. In the instance where a prospect is ‘marketed’ by two different Affiliates, the most recent referrer will get the commission. We figure this will balance out in the end, but if you consistently promote to your own audience, you will be sure to get the maximum number of prospects earning for you.

Secondly, successful marketing is a repeat business – the more a prospect hears about a product, the more likely he is to purchase. You are welcome to use any product in the Reality Zone store as a leader to get more people over to take a look. For instance, the book The Creature From Jekyll Island is a very popular item with all audiences, as is World Without Cancer: The Story of Vitamin B17. By following the methods above, your Affiliate ID will be attached to the maximum number of prospects possible.
